Shipping

When will my fish ship?

Hooray! Your order has been placed! 


In order to ensure the best care for your new fish, we will pull and inspect fish two days before shipment. This allows us to ensure all fish are in good condition for shipping and allows us to fast the fish for two days before shipping. Fasting the fish means less fish waste in the shipping bags, less ammonia in the shipping water, and happier fish upon arrival. 


We ship all our fish from our facility near Charlotte, NC, once per week on Wednesdays, using UPS Next Day Air shipping. 


Orders placed by Sunday will ship on Wednesday of that week. Orders placed Monday or Tuesday will ship with the next week’s Wednesday shipment. For example, an order placed on Sunday, January 5, would ship on Wednesday, January 8. However, an order placed on Monday, January 6, would not ship until Wednesday, January 15.  See the example shipping month below. Shipping Calendar

We reserve the right to hold an order until the weather allows for safe arrival of live, happy fish. If we need to hold an order for weather, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Who will ship my fish?

We ship exclusively with UPS Second Day Air. 

Why UPS Second Day Air?

Shipping live animals is always a risk, but in our experience, shipping second day air with a major carrier provides the best balance of speed and value. With UPS Second Day Air, you can expect to receive your fish the day after they are shipped, often in the morning. You'll also be able to track your fish along their journey to your tanks.​

What will it cost to ship my fish?

Each box of fish costs $55 to ship and holds up to 12 guppies. We cushion them generously to keep them safe, and we always include heating/cooling packs if the weather requires.

What if I need to cancel or postpone my order?

Pulling fish into isolation tanks and fasting them is stressful for the fish and labor intensive for us. Please be sure you are ready to commit to these fish before you hit that “submit order” button! 


Still, we understand that sometimes things happen, so we do allow limited cancellations/postponements. 


You may cancel or postpone your order without penalty until the fish have been pulled into their isolation tanks in preparation for shipping (typically, the Sunday before your Wednesday shipment). Once the fish have been isolated and fasted, you may cancel or postpone your order for a refund on shipping only - no refunds on the fish once they have been fasted. 


If you wish to cancel or postpone your order, please email us ASAP. 
 

What if my fish are late or DOA?

If your package is late, please email us as soon as possible, so we can follow up with UPS.

If you open your package to find that a fish has died in transport (whether the package was late or on time), you must email Divine Guppies WITHIN 1 HOUR of the recorded time of delivery. Please be sure to send us pictures of the shipping box and the dead fish still sealed in its transport bag. We will refund the price you paid for the dead fish (shipping is nonrefundable).


We want you to be inspired by the beautiful fish we send, and we want your fish to arrive alive, so if you have any issues at all, please email us absolutely as quickly as possible!
